Lapeer County Medical Care Fac
1455 SUNCREST DR, Lapeer, MI 48446
Lapeer County Medical Care Facility, known locally as "Suncrest," is a haven where caring makes a significant difference. The staff at Suncrest extends heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to care for residents or loved ones. Recognizing that placement into a long-term care facility can be a challenging decision, whether it's temporary for physical strengthening or long-term care, the dedicated team works tirelessly to ensure the process is as smooth as possible. Despite a high volume of applicants, leading to an admission waiting list, the commitment to personal care never wanes. Suncrest boasts a 202-bed skilled nursing facility that caters to residents requiring long-term care and extensive rehabilitation. Embracing Medicare, Medicaid, Private Pay, and most third-party payors, the institution is comprehensively equipped to support various financial situations. A distinguished feature is the 32-bed secure Dementia Unit, offering specialized programming for Alzheimer’s residents. Moreover, a State of Michigan licensed childcare learning center, with a capacity for 60 children, is accessible not only to employee's children but the wider public as well.

Community Details
Suncrest's dedication to enhancing quality of life is evident in its history of expansion and cultural shifts. Originally known as “The County Poor Farm,” the facility evolved significantly to meet the community's growing needs. Medicare/Medicaid legislation propelled it to elevate standards, catering to not just the medically indigent but proactively addressing the needs of the elderly. Following multiple expansions, the latest in 2001, the facility currently comprises 202 beds, including both private and semi-private rooms, alongside an integrated child day care center. A culture change initiated in 2011 sought to cultivate a more homelike ambiance, resulting in four two-story “pods,” 30 new private rooms, and a division of the building into intimate neighborhoods. These endeavors serve the overarching mission to provide optimal care for residents transitioning from acute hospital care requiring skilled nursing and rehabilitation services.
