Independent Group Home Living Program, Inc. (IGHL) has been serving the Long Island community for over 40 years. It is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing lifetime support and innovative services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Established in 1978, IGHL's mission is to offer community-based housing and services that enhance growth, independence, and community integration. IGHL offers a variety of services, including residential programs, day habilitation, vocational training, and employment programs, with a focus on helping individuals reach their full potential and lead fulfilling lives. IGHL operates more than 80 group residences throughout Suffolk County, New York, providing support to over 5,000 developmentally disabled individuals and their families. The facilities are varied, including supervised IRAs, respite homes, and intermediate care facilities, which are designed for maximum mobility and safety. IGHL's first group home was opened in 1978 in Mt. Sinai, New York. The organization has since expanded to include a comprehensive network of services across Suffolk County.
