Country Comfort Retirement Homes (CCRH) is a private, family-owned and operated establishment providing a unique blend of Assisted Living and Alzheimer’s Special Care in a home-like environment. The homes are designed to depart from the typical corporate atmosphere of larger facilities by creating cozy spaces where residents feel a part of a family community. Each of the homes accommodates between 12 to 16 residents and offers a non-commercial, interactive kitchen setting that encourages resident involvement in meal preparation, enhancing the sense of belonging and engagement. CCRH was established by Sherry Miller who, after years of working in local nursing facilities, sought to create an environment where elderly individuals, particularly those with memory loss disorders, could thrive. Opening the first home in Henry, IL in 1993, CCRH has since grown and adapted, currently operating three homes in North Central Illinois. Sherry's family, including her sons and daughter-in-law, actively participate in the running of CCRH, maintaining its founding philosophy of 'Quality first'. With nearly 55 employees, CCRH is dedicated to providing loving care and support to all residents. Country Comfort Retirement Homes prioritize a home-like setting with carefully designed interiors that feature warm colors, fireplaces, and sunrooms. The homes allow space for pets, family, and children to visit, reinforcing the community's family-oriented atmosphere. In terms of care, CCRH maintains staffing ratios that exceed state standards with 24-hour Certified Nursing Assistants and nursing staff available to meet residents' needs. The 'Safe Haven' Special Care Unit provides a secured area where residents with Alzheimer’s and other memory disorders can engage in activities designed to preserve their independence. Family members are encouraged to participate in care plan sessions and activities, as they play a vital role in maintaining the residents' quality of life by contributing historical information and personal mementos to the residents' rooms.
